Urgent Notice Building Closure
Civic Centre closure update, 15th January 2020.
Dear Members, Staff, and Volunteers,
As you know, the Civic Centre has been closed by the council as from December 11th.
The trustees and management of 3Ls appreciate what a difficult and frustrating time this is for everyone – it seems so long since we were happily enjoying courses and events in December. We are mindful also that 3Ls is a big part of people’s lives, including our regular office volunteers. Although we have nothing definite yet on a re-opening date, here is the current position.
The maintenance work is proving more lengthy than anticipated, and entails a thorough cleaning throughout the building, as a precautionary measure owing to the presence of asbestos in some parts of the heating system. This is a statutory Health & Safety Executive requirement to guarantee public safety.
The council have placed a notice regarding the Library closure on their website:-
We are hoping we will be able to open again very soon, and we will of course make every effort to fulfil our commitment to you in delivering a full ten classes and / or other resolution.
As soon as we are able to re-open we will post details here on the website, and we will advise all members by mail. Please check back regularly, or subscribe to receive notifications.
Meanwhile, we apologise that it is not possible to respond to individual enquiries, as we have no access to our records or financial systems until we have access to our office.
With best wishes for a healthy and happy 2020,
David Bickford, General Manager. 15th January.
Please note that our classes which run outside the Civic Centre are running as normal – you can check which these are on the courses page. Our Lytham Hall event on 12th February is also still going ahead, click here.
